Assistants - How to respond to negative feedback from a task owner?

Customer feedback provides an excellent opportunity to learn about how your business is doing. When the feedback is good, rejoice; when the feedback is not good; don't despair. Responding to bad feedback constructively online can be a powerful promotional tool. A business that responds to bad feedback constructively and fairly shows that they care about customer service. When someone has a bad experience and doesn't post it online, you most often won't hear about it, but often everyone else will. This is your opportunity to provide your side of the story and offer the customer a better experience the next time around.

Feedback Guidelines For Assistants:

  1. Be positive and constructive when dealing with negative feedback.
  2. The sooner you respond to a Task Owners feedback the better.
  3. Get back in touch with the task owner and discuss where things went wrong and whether you can do anything to rectify the situation.
  4. Explain the steps you have taken in the response. This will serve two purposes: (1) Your business will be exercising good customer service; and (2) everyone else will know that you take the time to make it right and that in of itself, exemplifies what customers look for in an assistant or business.
