SIFE Nationals Brisbane 2008

I had the pleasure of being a semi final round judge at the SIFE Nationals Brisbane 2008 and it was a real eye opener. For the uninitiated SIFE stands for Students in Free Enterprise, it's Non-profit organization educating people on concepts like market economics, entrepreneurship, and business ethics through educational outreach projects. Students are required to work together as a team to create an innovative portfolio of projects to assist their local, national and global community.

The Winning Team - UWA

Many of the Students presenting came across very professionally, more so than most corporate presentations I have attended. The University of Western Australia won the competition and in their final presentation they managed to convey the project objectives and performance very succinctly without the use of impressive presentations or stylish annuals reports, it was a great effort by all. You can read about the four projects they entered on page two of their annual report.

  1. Child Obesity,
  2. Financial Literacy,
  3. Business leadership for students
  4. Family businesses consultancy

Parallel’s with Too Easy

It occurred to me that many of the SIFE projects embody the same principles that we are aiming for with the Too Easy platform which is an ethical open market place that enables students, entrepreneurs and small businesses to cost effectively grow and refine their businesses helped in part from the performance based feedback system.

Kick-start your business online for only $50

One of the projects offered by SIFE UNSW which may be of interest to micro businesses is the IT Clicks project, which for $50, the SIFE UNSW team will create a professional business website to get you started online.

If you don't have a website and don't know where to start then give the IT Clicks team a call.

Once you new site is alive you can  then link your Too Easy business profile to your new website which will help boost your page ranking in Google so new customers can find you first rather than your competitors!

This video sums up the offer:
